VENETO AND THE PALLADIAN VILLAS

In addition to Venice, Veneto is also known to everyone for Verona, the city of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

With its splendid Palladian villas, Veneto is the region that can claim one of the most important examples of architecture that we have in Italy. Built around the mid-sixteenth century by architect Andrea Palladio for the most important families of the place, the 24 villas in Veneto have, together with the 23 monuments of the nearby beautiful city of Vicenza, been included in the UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Veneto is not only a land of art, culture and great history but also boasts an important culinary and winemaking tradition; the Valpollicella area produces one of the best red wines in the country as well as Amarone and Recioto. You must have a glass of prosecco of Valdobbiadene and have the traditional aperitivo with a Spritz! Prosecco is the most exported Italian wine abroad. In 2015 for the first time it surpassed Champagne in number of bottles sold in the world! In 2019 Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Prosecco’s hills have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
